Thorsten and Thoreld Moberg were twin brothers who purchased the first Moberg Electric shop from Axel Borstad in Barron, WI in January 1938. They specialized in electrical systems for cars and tractors as well as electric motors. Both men enlisted in the Army in 1942 and the shop was closed during World War II. When they returned in 1946, they built the Moberg Electric Motor Shop on Division Avenue in Barron.
The business was sold to Bill Smet in 1976. One year later, Bill GeBauer went into partnership with Smet. In the early 1980’s, GeBauer bought out Smet and was then the sole owner. In the mid to late 1980’s, GeBauer bought out Wolf Electric in Hayward, WI and Nutter Electric in Rice Lake, WI and continued to operate out of Barron and Rice Lake as Moberg Electric.
In 1991, the two locations were combined in a new building at its current location on Hwy SS, Rice Lake, WI. In 2000, Moberg Electric, Inc. was purchased by Bob and Kathy Van Helden. Moberg became an authorized dealer and service center for Milwaukee Power Tools during this time.
Jim and Karen Simko purchased Moberg Electric on August 1st of 2023. The existing business remains the same with the addition of being a licensed, bonded, and insured electrical contractor. Moberg Electric continues to be your source for electric motor, generator and air compressor sales and service.
